TRANSPORTATION 

• AILA Las Americas (SDQ) Santo Domingo INTL airpor t: it is the first choice at the moment. From there you have several different possibilities to come to Las Terrenas
• Rent a car. There is a very good new road directly from Santo Domingo Intl Airport to Sanchez (30 minutes from here). The last 15 miles from Sanchez to here are not in good conditions. In total you take 2 hours driving or just a little more. There is not security problems, but we suggest not to drive in the night because of the general very bad conditions of the signs (no information's signs, no lights, white and yellow lines on the paved are missing, bad and dark edges of road, animals etc.). If you decide to rent a car maybe (not mandatory) you can think in a 4X4 because of the excursions here (many very nice places and beaches has bad access).
• Driving directions:
• out of the airport you turn left to Santo Domingo Town .
• Very close (about 1 mile ) you have to turn right in the new “ SAMANA TOLL ROAD ”. Look for a green sign, it is not so evident and there is only one.
• Drive in the toll road for about 1 hour (Km. 110)
• When the toll road ends turn right to Samana, but you don't drive until Samana.
• After about 15 Km , 1 Km after the village of Sanchez , immediately after the Texaco gas station, you turn left to Las Terrenas.
• This last 17 Km are in not very good conditions: narrow, steep and with bad paved, but you are almost here… you will climb the hills and then go down again to the beach.
• Arriving in Las Terrenas you drive all straight ahead in the main street until you arrive at the cemetery, in front of the sea.
• Turn left and stay aside the sea (on your right hand). After about ½ mile you will see Alisei.
• Taxi : a taxi has a cost of US$ 200 1 way. If you prefer, we can send it from here. For this we need all the details about your flight and we need a final reconfirmation the day before arrival: PLEASE DON'T LET A TAXI EMPTY AT THE AIRPORT (you have to pay it…).
• Bus: the Caribe Tours bus company has 5 trips per day (cost US$ 9 p/pers) and the buses are comfortable. They leave from the center of town. You arrive at Sanchez. From Sanchez you take a taxi (US$ 30).
• From the local airport El Higuero (about 30 minutes taxi from AILA) there are 3 flights (40 minutes – at 7:30, 10:00, 16:30) per day to the local airport El Portillo (10 minutes from here – taxi US$ 10). For informations and bookings check www.aerodomca.com or www.takeoffweb.com (local airlines).
• With the same local airlines you can book a private aero taxi (US$ 300, 1 to 3 pax)
